Congenital adrenal hyperplasia is associated with abnormal functioning of the adrenal glands. The disroder affects the production of sex and stress hormones. Very scant information is available about the presentation, diagnosis and treatment of this disease in cats.
CYP11B1
Likely autosomal recessive
Signs and symptoms can include indeterminate sex characteristics, chronic polyuria and polydipsia, foul‐smelling urine, and increased serum androgen concentrations.
Serum biochemistry panel, CBC, urinalysis, urine culture, and ACTH stimulation testing (cortisol, aldosterone, and sex hormone assay) can be helpful in making a diagnosis.
Current data does not indicate that specific breeds are at a higher risk.
