Pet Tech LA  is back on July 29th 2021, at the Plug & Play rooftop in Downtown Los Angeles. This in-person networking event for startups is organized by Basepaws and PCIN with the goal of bringing together the best pet startups and entrepreneurs in Southern California, establish new partnerships, investments, and build new connections.

On June 7th, Basepaws announced the big meows, and today we are proud to officially join the Zoetis family. This announcement marks a new chapter in our mission to provide pet parents with actionable knowledge for making empowered, proactive healthcare decisions.

Do you have an itchy cat? It’s possible that they could be suffering from dermatitis—an increasingly common skin condition seen in cats. In this post, we review two types of this uncomfortable affliction: atopic dermatitis and food allergic dermatitis.

Meet Sami. This loving and adorable fellow is one of four cats that Basepaws community member, Giuliano Argenti, rescued and welcomed into his family. For the past two years, amazing pet parents like you in our customer and/or citizen science research community have filled out this questionnaire to help us learn about your furry family members’ physical appearance, health, eating habits, behaviors, and more.

We’ve come a long way since our early days as a startup company, so we want to take this opportunity to share some updates about our feline health product pricing as we expand our operations, team, and product offerings.

Too many pet parents have known the heartbreaking loss of a beloved pet to cancer. As part of our commitment to helping all pets live healthier, happier, and longer lives, Basepaws is studying the genetic and oral microbiome factors associated with certain types of cancer. We welcome your participation in this research, which could inform the development of new screening tests for earlier detection of cancer in pets.

Did you know that dental disease is the #1 condition affecting cats? 70% of cats have developed some form of dental disease by the time they are 3 years old. I don’t want to scare you, but periodontal disease affects up to 80% of ALL adult cats. Gum disease affects 70% of all cats. Tooth resorption affects up to 60% of all cats, and over 70% of cats over the age of five. These statistics are appalling, made even worse by the fact that our cats can’t talk, and thus suffer until it’s too late.
