Bernard-Soulier syndrome, Type C, is a rare bleeding disorder found in Cocker Spaniels. This disease is characterized by a defective platelet membrane receptor, which leads to failure of platelet plug stabilization during the coagulation/clotting pathway.

Autosomal recessive
Affected dogs can present with mucosal bleeding, nose bleeding, digested blood in the stool, and blood in the urine. Clotting conditions are typically recognized during trauma or in preparation for surgery.
Hemostatic diseases are diagnosed with multiple blood tests that evaluate clotting times and platelet morphology.
